Jensen Ford
Top-5 finish in Crate Late Model Championship at Volunteer Speedway
On Friday evening Jensen Ford returned to Volunteer Speedway (Bulls Gap, Tenn.) powering his Stanco Equipment No. 83 Late Model for the two-day Crate Late Model National Championship. Drawing a stout field of 73 American Crate All-Star Series entries, Ford timed in second fastest in his time trial group but suffered fuel issues while leading his heat that forced him pitside for the remainder of the evening. The following night, Jensen came in second fastest overall in time trials behind Ricky Weiss before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. Earning the second-starting position for the $15,000-to-win A-Main, Ford snuck past polesitter Ricky Weiss for the lead on the opening lap until Weiss wrestled it back two laps later. Hanging onto a Top-5 finish in the remaining distance, Jensen Ford notched a fifth-place finish behind Jimmy Owens, Jason Welshan, Logan Roberson, and Zach Sise.
