Jensen Ford Captures American Crate All-Star Series Opener at Tazewell
Before Saturday night, Jensen Ford had never raced at Tazewell Speedway. However, not having any race experience at the high-banked, 4/10-mile oval didn’t keep the Tennessee racer from streaking to the $2,500 triumph with the American Crate All-Star Series. (Jason Nunn photo)
The victory came aboard his Mike Whitehead Racing No. 83 Whitehead Construction Inc./ TNT Race Car/ Eagle Racing Engine Late Model.
“Man, this just feels incredible. To win in my first-ever trip to Tazewell Speedway and to win the first-ever American Crate All-Star Series race is really something for our team,” Ford said. “This car was on a rail the whole night. I hated to see those late-race cautions, but it didn’t slow us down any. We had a good car in Florida a few weeks ago but just didn’t have any luck on our side. Tonight, we put it altogether and got the win.”
Saturday night saw Jensen Ford make his debut at Tazewell Speedway (Tazewell, Tennessee) with the newly-formed American Crate All-Star Series debut event. With 23 cars on hand for the Charles Trammell Memorial, Ford laid down the second-fastest time in qualifying behind Aaron Guinn before streaking to a Dash victory.
Earning the pole position for the A-Main, Jensen led wire-to-wire en route to his first win of the season and a $2,500 payday. Guinn, Ross White, Josh Henry, and Bradley Lewelling completed the Top-5 finishers in the 40-lap affair.
